How The Gab Started
Gift of the Gab Web Design began back in 2017, almost by accident.
At the time, I was running social media advertising for our family groundworks business and needed a website to support it. I built one myself and before long other local businesses started asking who had created it. Soon after that, they began asking if I could build one for them too.
What started as a simple solution for our own business quickly grew through word of mouth. Over the years we’ve created hundreds of websites for small businesses, both locally and across the UK. The focus has always been on creating practical, professional websites that genuinely help businesses grow online without unnecessary jargon or complications.
Jason has always been part of the business behind the scenes as my business partner and biggest support, although thankfully nowhere near the actual web design side of things. He’s far more useful for practical support, keeping me sane, lifting heavy things, and the occasional jokingly referred to “debt collection department” when invoices need chasing.
In 2021, Maddie joined the business after returning from university, bringing fresh creativity, ideas, and another pair of hands into what had already become a proper family business. Based in Wales together with her wife Lucy and their two furbabies, Maddie brings a huge amount of creativity into the Gab and has a real eye for design, branding, and the finer details that make a website feel personal to a client. Outside of work she’s passionate about art, reading, crafting, and exploring the Welsh countryside, and that creative mindset naturally filters into the work we produce together every day.
A Small Family Business
Gift of the Gab has always been built around real life.
Alongside running the business, I’m also the main carer for my autistic daughter, so flexibility has always been essential. Some days the office is a desk, some days it’s the school car park, and sometimes it’s the sofa with a coffee trying to answer emails before dinner burns.
Jason works very much behind the scenes but has been a huge support throughout the journey, helping keep everything running while Maddie and I focus on the creative side of the business.
Between us, the Gab has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of.
